At the urging of BALANCE and our ASAP! Coalition Allies, the House recently passed a bill which, if enacted, would help stem the flow of illegal aliens.

But the challenge is in the U.S. Senate NOW.

The Open Borders Lobby's strategy is to pass a massive Illegal Alien Amnesty in the Senate (disguised, of course, as a Guest Worker Bill). Secretary Chertoff has already indicated that a "solution" to the problem of illegal immigration is to legalize the Illegals via a Guest Worker program which will be a de facto Amnesty.

Their unfolding strategy will meld the Guest Worker/Amnesty Senate Bill with the House Bill in Conference Committee. That forces an up or down vote in the House thus diminishing the possibility of amendments.

The Open Borders Lobby has already begun their push and they are aiming for passage in February. So we have very little time to stop this push.

Another "hooker" is that the Open Borders lobby admits that to accommodate the legalized aliens (as many as TWENTY MILLION!) and their families, legal immigration will have to be drastically increased.

The open borders advocates are already beating the drums for that - Senator Specter is circulating a draft Bill which would double legal immigration to nearly two million per year! (Although Specter's Bill had a temporary setback last December, that Bill is still being aggressively pushed for inclusion in the Senate Omnibus Guestworker=Amnesty Bill. Indeed (contrary to what some Neo-Con Immigration Reform Lite groups imply) a Bill is never dead until a Congressional session is closed. For example, in 1990, a Conference Committee bill dramatically increasing immigration was defeated on the very last day of the Congressional session. But later on that day, the Conference bill was revived with the provisions increasing legal immigration 40% included, and the bill was passed.
Bottom line: the Specter bill doubling legal immigration is still very much alive.)

Mr. Grover Norquist, one of the Open Borders lobby's most effective leaders, is calling for "increased legal immigration." Mr. Norquist recently claimed the number of legal immigrants was "set too low by law."

Of course, BALANCE will be fighting the Stealth Amnesty and Legal Immigration Increase Bills tooth and nail. We advocate the absolutely logical strategy of stopping mass immigration altogether with a moratorium because our middle class can't afford it and our environment can't afford it. We reject any Amnesty or Guest Worker program whatsoever, and we urge a Moratorium on all immigration in excess of 100,000 per year.

But there's good news too…

On February 8th 2006, LEADERS OF THE MINUTEMAN PROJECT will be teaming up with BALANCE and its ASAP! Coalition Allies for a citizen initiative on Capitol Hill. We will be contacting our Senators and urging that they not pass any type of Amnesty or Guest Worker Program, and instead pass a Moratorium on all immigration in excess of 100,000 per year!

Letters have been sent to all U.S. Senators by MINUTEMAN FOUNDER JIM GILCHRIST, urging that they meet us on the steps of the Capitol (They are after all OUR Representatives, and the overwhelming majority of Americans are opposed to an Amnesty) .

THIS "STOP THE AMNESTY" CAMPAIGN MAY WELL LAST SEVERAL DAYS OR POSSIBLY WEEKS AFTER THE FEBRUARY 8TH KICKOFF.
THE INITIATIVE WILL BEGIN FEB. 8, 2006 AT 11:30 AM ON THE LAWN DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE WESTERN SIDE OF THE CAPITOL BUILDING.

We urgently need your help. Time is short, but we must have a strong showing of support from the public to let the Senate know how serious we are.

1) Fax and call your U.S. Senators and tell them to oppose all Guest Worker Program/Illegal Alien Amnesty Bills.

2) Demand a MORATORIUM! (THIS IS ESSENTIAL for many reasons, one being that it blocks the Chertoff/Specter/Norquist strategy of Legalizing all the Illegals and calling it a "solution.") Call, fax, and write your Senators and Representatives and urge them to support a Moratorium. Specifically, tell them to support H.R. 3700, but amended so as to include a Moratorium on all immigration in excess of 100,000 for seven years, the highest number we can admit and still achieve U.S. population stabilization.
