Mass Immigration Outrages and Absurdities Continue
While U.S. Population Hurtles towards One Billion
- But Momentum for Reduction Building -
BALANCE was a leader in the successful finght throughout the first
half of the year to halt the Outrage-of-the-Year: Section 245(i)
amnesty bills which would have granted legal residency to hundreds
of thousands who entered and remain in the U.S. illegally. "Our
side" has (temporarily, at least) defeated 245(i). Thus CONGRATULATIONS
TO OUR THOUSANDS OF SUPPORTERS WHO HELPED US STOP 245(i) ONCE AGAIN!
Now, we must use momentum from this victory to get reductions.
The key to achieving reductions is reflected in the approach we
used in stopping 245(i): it was our activists' insistence on a moratorium,
coupled with our oppositions to 245(i), which ensured that the message
was conveyed to Congress in a manner which lays the foundation for
actual reductions. Pushing a moratorium not only allow members of
Congress to know we want no more mass immigration , but also creates
pressure against all immigration-increasing bills, regardless of
the euphemism (e.g. "regularization") used to describe
them.
But, by the time you receive this, we may be battling Senator
Daschle's Senate 245(i) bill. If we continue to oppose these 245(i)
amnesty bills in a politically effective way by pushing a
moratorium we will lay the groundwork for success in achieving
reductions.
When 245(i) resurfaces in the near future in the form of an amendment
or a free-standing bill, we can use it to build momentum to shift
attention to the moratorium bill H.R. 2712.
To further strengthen our cause, BALANCE must continue to gain
grassroots support which multiplies our clout on Capitol Hill. Your
efforts are critical in helping us stop bad bills and achieve our
larger goals: U.S. population stabilization and the resulting enhanced
environmental security. We urge you to give your friends the opportunity
to increase their activism and stay on top of the issues. The most
powerful way to increase grassroots support is by giving gift memberships
to BALANCE.
Many reasons to impel us to push for a moratorium on all immigration
in excess of 100,000/yr.
Not even one year has passed since last September 11; yet many
of our elected represents are already losing their focus on the
inherent threats posed by mass immigration. The sheer number of
aliens in our society makes an almost impossible task of identifying
those few who aim to do us harm.
If our out-of-control immigration policies are not changed, we
will continue to witness mass immigration OUTRAGES AND ABSURDITIES
SUCH AS THE ONES BELOW. We must not fail otherwise, we can
anticipate more outrages and absurdities like the following, (as
of May 1, 2002):
Three hundred thousand (300,000) people who have been ordered
are still in the U.S.A., because their deportation orders were not
enforced. In many cases, after being ordered deported by a judge,
the illegal immigrant simply walked out of the courtroom.
Studies estimate there are approximately 350,000 people ho have
become illegal immigrants by overstaying their visas. Because of
its failure to implement an entry-exit system as required by a 1996
law, the INS has no way to identify our locate them. If the new
visa law is enforced, it may reduce this problem.
According to a recent study conducted by the Center for Immigration
Studies, more than 700,000 illegal immigrants enter the U.S. per
year resulting in 1,918 per day, 80 per hour, and more than
one per minute. In other words, since the September 11 attack, approximately
481,418 people have entered the U.S. illegally.
The temporary renewal of section 245(i) of the Immigration and
Nationality Act in 2001 legalized approximately 900,000 illegal
immigrants in just four months without adequate background
or health checks. Yet this is the program that a bipartisan coalition
in Congress and the Administration seeks to extend!
The State Department issued new visas to allow more than 140,000
visitors into the United States since September 1, 2001 from an
arc of countries running from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and Nepal
to Bangledesh.
For the current year, the Congress has authorized the admission
of 70,000 "refugees" (many of whom are actually economic
migrants) people who come outside of the regular immigration quota
and are immediately entitled to all-government benefits available
to citizens. In addition, approximately 35,000 asylees are granted
admission each year.
Border Patrol agents at the Juarez/El Paso border sometimes ask
border crossers to step through a "drug sniffing door",
which is simply a wooden frame on wheels.
The Mexican government projects that mass immigration to the U.S.
will continue at between 3.5 and 5 million people per decade until
at least 2030! The Mexican government has issued "consular
cards" which they urge U.S. banks, police, public authorities,
and Vehicle Registration offices to accept, so that illegal aliens
here may enjoy many of the same privileges as citizens. The Mexican
government is attempting to take control of U.S. immigration law.
There have been over 20 incursions by Mexican troops into the
U.S. in the past few months! They claim to be pursuing drug smugglers.
Some allege that they are protecting drug smugglers.
In the long run, such incredible-but-true stories will continue
until we stop massive immigration into the United States. Mass immigration
has caused the U.S. to have the highest population growth rates
of any industrialized country in the world, comparable growth rates
in Bangledesh, Inida, and China. The Census Bureau counted 32.7
million more in population in 2000 than in 1990, (a 13% increase
in just 10 years) over 70% of that growth resulted from immigration.
The last decade witnessed the largest population increase in U.S.
history and the fastest population growth rate since the "baby
boom" of the 1950s. In urban areas, population growth spurred
development leading to traffic congestion and other quality-of-life
problems like sprawl. The poverty rate increased in states and cities
most impacted by immigration, whereas prosperity spread in other
areas. Indeed, if mass-immigration generate United States population
growth and related trends continue at current levels:
The U.S. population will continue to grow by about 3.3 million
people each year 66,000 every week.
U.S. population will double to 500,000,000 by 2050 and one billion
in 2100.
Eight high immigration states will double in fewer than 35 years.
The resulting traffic jams, pollution, power and water shortages,
infrastructure problems and budget deficits will be monumental.
Over 70% of this growth is a direct result of immigration
with the percentage increasing annually! Immigration accounted for
90% of population growth in California and Texas and for 100% of
the growth in Florida and New York in the past decade. In the future,
as the stock of immigrants grows and the current immigration levels
persist, post-1990 immigrants and their decedents will account for
at least 95% of U.S. population growth through 2050.
If we wish to preserve any reasonable standard of living and quality
of life for ourselves and future generations, we can no longer afford
to absorb the world's bourgeoning populationwhich expands
by over 80 million a year! In fact, an alarming number of day-to-day
problems faced by Americans can be traced to the root problem of
our population explosion. Immigration-driven population growth is
the primary cause of sprawl which devours our best farmland, the
incessant depletion of natural open space from the once vast and
beautiful American landscape, the increased pollution of our air
and water supply, wage depression of American workers, over-crowding
in schools and traffic congestion.
These further facts buttress our case for a moratorium:
For each person added to the U.S. population, about one acre of
farm or wild land is lost resulting in a total yearly loss approximately
3 million acres.
Per capita energy consumption has been stable since 1970 . But
total energy consumption has risen approximately in lock-step with
the increase in population.
If current mass immigration and consumption trends continue, by
about 2020 all domestic oil supplies will be effectively depleted,
obligating the U.S. to import almost 100% of its oil.
If present levels of immigration continue, the U.S. will cease
to have a surplus of food for export by about 2030. If nations that
hold dollars bid up the price of food, some Americans will find
themselves unable to afford the varied diet that is now almost taken
for granted. The U.S. will have to forego approximately $40 billion
a year from food export sales (at today's prices), or its own people
will increasingly do without.
On average, each additional person added to a community burdens
local taxpayers with a public infrastructure cos of 15, 378.
Mass immigration's net cost to U.S. taxpayers was $70 billion
in 1997. If current trends continue, the costs for the 1998-2007
decade will be $932 billionover 93 billion per year!
An estimated 2.3 million U.S. workers were displaced from their
jobs as a direct result mass immigration in 1996 alone. U.S. workers
los $133 billion annually because of job displacement and wage depression
caused by mass immigration.
SOLUTION:
1. Push for a MORATORIUM on all immigration in excess of 100,00
per year, the highest number which would make U.S. population stabilization
possible. Specifically the Mass Immigration Reduction Act of 2001
(H.R. 2712) places a moratorium on many categories of immigration
and strictly limits others.
Bottom Line: Pushing for a moratorium has helped us defeat
245(i) so far and has given us a unique window of opportunity to
get reduction. But we need your help more than ever before to capitalize
on it.
2. We can win if we build critical grassroots clout. You can help
us do this by giving gift memberships to BALANCE. Or just donate!
